Day 4- Juneau

Welcome to Juneau!
We made it to Alaska's capital and did not end up seeing Sarah Palin, although we did drive by the governor's house.

During our short time in Alaska, we did the Bike and Brew excursion. We went on a 9 1/2 mile bike ride around Juneau and ended up at the Mendenhall Glacier, and then finished our tour with a visit to the Alaskan Brewery.

This picture is for Carrie: The request was to eat some Fireweed. I know you husband makes it a habit to taste strange plants, but I wasn't willing to taste the plant after several locals said you can't eat it straight off the plant. I did however have some fireweed jam and syrup which was very good.

Fireweed grows all over Alaska, it is beautiful!

When we arrived at the Mendenhall Glacier visitors center, there was a path you could take where they often see bears. We saw some half eaten salmon down by the river and heard that the bear had just been eating about an hour earlier.

Eric enjoyed the beer at Alaskan Brewery and is sad that he can't get it here in Florida.

This certainly had to be a really "fun" day because you all did SO much and look like you enjoyed every bit of it. And I'm glad you didn't just eat the plant itself but tasted some of it's product. :)
