Our camera broken so I may be posting some blogs without photos for a while.
We started a new school year and I am really enjoying my new class. I have great students and great parental support.
We officially started the new year with the first Gator game of the season. We enjoyed tailgating with friends and watching the Gators beat Hawaii 56 to 10. It was a very hot day - 95 most of the day! The Gator fans were asked to wear white shirts to support "Gators white out cancer". On the way from our tailgating location to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, we noticed some storm clouds roll in overhead. Sure enough, while we were in line to enter the stadium the skies opened up!! If you ever experienced Florida rain you know that it's not just a little mist, it is always HUGE raindrops, and a lot of them! So it was an experience especially with everyone wearing white. Luckily I was wearing orange underneath my white shirt. Hopefully next week's game will not be so wet.
Another new thing this school year is we are moving to another bible study. Our One Another Group has grown so much that we needed to split. We had 11 core couples and were adding a new couple almost every week. We were placed into four new groups that were decided by the elders. We were placed in a group hosted by a wonderful couple who lived in California during their early years of marriage. BJ is a professor in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department and Shirley used to be the Children's ministry director at our church. They have two kids in elementary school. We are with one couple from our old group along with two new couples and room to grow. It will be a bittersweet transition as we are excited about our new group but will also miss the friends that we have met with weekly for two years now.
