We are thankful that we found some awesome babysitters since moving to Oregon so we can have regular date nights. We usually spend most of our time exploring restaurants in Portland. In early June Intel had a gala for their technology development department (thousands of people) for meeting a two year goal. Eric participated in this goal in the 6 months he has been working there. Funny thing is, he had no idea it was going on and says he probably hurt it more than helped it. Haha. Either way, we were invited to participate and it was so much fun. They rented out the downtown Hilton and held this event 3 different nights- we got to pick which night we wanted to go to. We walked in and were immediately handed a glass of champagne (cider for the pregnant lady) and hors d'oeuvres. They had a short cocktail hour with live music, food and drinks while we waited for dinner. Dinner was served in many different dining rooms all decorated completely different but super elegant like a fancy wedding and each room had a different style of live music. You could choose whichever room you wanted to eat in. We enjoyed dinner and dessert and then from 9pm-1am you could do whatever you wanted. There were bars set up all around the hotel, different rooms with music, dancing, karaoke. They had a free coffee bar and a fun photo booth to take silly, or nice photos in. They were passing out cups that said Intel that had flashing lights on them and projected the Intel logo onto the ground (these were my favorite- I took one home), and apparently if you stayed late (which we didn't since we had to get home to a babysitter) they passed out feather boas, flashing gloves, glow sticks and all kinds of crazy things for the dance floor. Apparently it's pretty common for Intel to throw a party like this about once every 2 years. We had fun and will look forward to going next time!
Oh yeah, they even had Intel ice sculptures- crazy!View from the top of the Hilton
On our way to Portland for dinner
We discovered a ice cream place called Ruby Jewel. They make their own delicious ice cream and you can turn it into a ice cream sandwich with yummy homemade cookies. They also had a 6 cup ice cream sampler where you can try 6 ice creams or toppings. So good! We will go back there again!
