5 Years

We celebrated our five year anniversary on June 3rd. (can't believe it's been 5 years already!!). Eric was away at our church's men's retreat that weekend so we went out to dinner the night before on the 2nd thanks to our friends Paul and Shannon who babysat Titus. When Eric's parents were in town they wanted us to enjoy a nice nice out in celebration, so we got to celebrate again, but this time we went out to a nicer place.

We went downtown to a restaurant called Searsucker whose owner and chef is Brian Malarkey from Top Chef. I never actually saw him on the show, but we have had friends who recommended it (even thought they have never been there themselves). The restaurant was really trendy feeling with yummy food. We then headed over to Extraordinary Desserts where we picked from decadent treats behind a glass case. We decided we needed to try two different ones even though we knew we wouldn't eat it all. Luckily Eric passed up on his usual white chocolate or creamy choices and allowed me to choose the chocolatey ones.

Dulce De Leche cake with layers of chocolate cake, flaky crunchy cookie crumbs, chocolate ganache and of course, dulce de leche. Even had gold flakes on top!

The viking Cake which was layers of chocolate cake, chocolate mousse, creme brulee pieces, and chocolate ganache all coated with almond praline pieces. This one was my favorite!
We finished our evening with a soak in the hot tub at our apartment complex, which usually doesn't happen without bringing the stroller along, so that was a fun way to end the evening. Thanks Nana and Grandpa for babysitting!
