Zavaleta Visit

Eric and Mollie came for a quick visit last weekend. Eric had an interview in Irvine and San Francisco so they came a little early and made a trip out of it. It was so fun to see them again and to show them around our new home.

We had a packed schedule which included lots of eating out since that's what the Z's love to do! We picked them up from the airport and immediately went to a great Mexican food restaurant we found. The next day we played disc golf where Eric and Eric of course had to make some sort of bet. They ended up making two bets. Steric won the game so he won the first bet, which was Hula pie that evening, and Meric won the closest to the pin bet so he won coffee with his Hula pie. Those silly boys can't just play the game for fun. We went to Pizza Port for lunch, which is a pizza place but also brews their own beer. Afterward we drove along Sunset Cliffs which is always beautiful. We came home, relaxed a bit and then headed to La Jolla to see the sunset, watch the sea lions and eat dinner.
We had dinner at this awesome sushi place and then headed to Del Mar to eat the much anticipated HULA PIE.
There was no way we could share one for four people so we got one for each couple, which was fine since Meric was paying ;) .I think they loved the Hula Pie almost as much as Eric does. If you come to visit, I'm sure you will be enjoying Hula Pie with us. YUM!

The next day we woke up and went to breakfast at this darling little place in La Jolla called The Cottage. We stopped by the beach afterward. It was too cold to swim but we had fun walking along the beach and the boys tossed a disc.

Our last evening we headed to Escondido to visit Stone Brewery.

The boys enjoyed trying all the beers. The restaurant had great food and a beautiful atmosphere. I'm sure we will be visiting there a lot in the future.

On Saturday morning we drove up to Irvine to drop Eric off for his interview, then continued to LAX so Mollie could catch her flight. After Eric's interview we had some time to kill before he had to catch his flight to San Francisco. Eric showed us around the UCLA campus.

He also took us to one of his favorite places from his college days- a cookie shop called Diddy Riese. Oh man was it yummy. There was a line out the door and down the street and it makes sense because the price is right. You can buy one cookie for 35 cents or four for a dollar and milk for 50 cents. Good thing we don't have this place close to us or I would be there all the time. I think this picture of Eric in a suit, drinking milk out of elementary school cafeteria cartons on the street is hilarious.
After we dropped Eric off at LAX we drove home and then my parents arrived! They had just driven down from a day at Disneyland. We were able to spend the rest of the weekend with them going to church and visiting places around beautiful San Diego. We of course had to get some Hula Pie while they were here :) I don't know why I don't have any pictures of my parents...Another exciting thing that happened this weekend was Eric got his diploma in the mail! It is totally official now! Good Job, Dr. Armstrong.
