Siesta Key

Eric's parents gave us a wonderful gift for Christmas: $ for a weekend trip in Florida. We chose to go to Siesta Key since we had heard wonderful things about the beaches there and we had never been before. We were going to save it for our anniversary in June, but with Eric planning on being swamped with dissertation writing, we made this our "around our anniversary" trip.
We went in the beginning of March, which is usually pretty nice in Florida, but it was SO cold this winter, it turned out to be a very cold weekend! We went to the beach when we arrived and only lasted about 15 minutes because we were so cold it was not fun at all. The best thing about the beach trip was that we saw a 10 year old boy who was bothering the seagulls on the beach by throwing stuff at them and then we saw him running down the beach screaming as a HUGE pack of seagulls were chasing him, thinking that he had food. I've never seen such terror in someone's face. I know we shouldn't have thought it was funny but it was quite entertaining.

We watched the sunset one night which was also freezing.

We enjoyed a dinner of wine and cheese and other goodies in our little condo.

Our Kitchen for the weekend

Sitting Area

Our very own hot tub! (Good thing it was cold over the weekend because we probably went in the hot tub 8 times over the weekend .

We went to St. Armands Circle which is a high end shopping area. It was fun to walk around and look at the shops.

We found a cute Italian gelato shop.

This is the outside area of our hotel.
We ended up going Kayaking since that was provided by our hotel. It was surprisingly not too cold. We even saw some dolphins!

We enjoyed dinner at a restaurant called Ophelia's on the Bay where I had the BEST mussels I've ever had. Yum!

The day we were leaving of course was warmer and beautiful! Eric allowed me to bask in the sun for a little bit before we went home.

Fun trip- Thanks David and Norma!
